Classical Turkish literature, which emerged under the influence of Islam, continued its existence until the final years of the Ottoman Empire. Numerous works were written within this tradition. This literary tradition, spanning approximately six centuries, began to wane in the face of reform movements in the 19th century and the new literary approach shaped by Western influence. However, during this period, significant artists emerged who continued to keep this fading tradition alive through their works.
